Guest Artist Series Recital Presented By Una Department Of Music And Theatre

The University of North Alabama Department of Music and Theatre will be presenting their first Guest Artist Series recital, featuring Dr. Lori Bade and UNA faculty members Dr. Tiffany Bostic-Brown and Dr. Terrance Brown. The recital will be held on November 15 at 5:30 in the recital hall of the music building and will be free to the public. Dr. Lori Bade is a Professor of Voice and Director of Graduate Studies in the School of Music at Louisiana State University. As an instructor, she has received many academic achievement awards including the Nell S. and Boyd H. McMullan Distinguished Professorship in Music award; the Tiger Excellence in Teaching Award from LSU; and Outstanding Young Graduate Award from her alma mater Texas Lutheran University. Dr. Bade has performed as a mezzo soloist, singing the works of composers such as Beethoven, Mozart and Handel and performed with various orchestras throughout the United States in works such as The Crucible, Madama Butterfly and Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. Dr. Bade received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Texas Lutheran University, Master of Arts from Ohio State University and her Doctoral of Music Arts from LSU. Dr. Tiffany Bostic-Brown currently serves as a faculty member here at UNA. As a soprano, she's performed the works of famous composers such as Bach, Vivaldi and Brahms across the United States and in Europe as a concert and operatic artist and recitalist. Dr. Bostic-Brown has also made a professional recording with the Louisiana Sinfonietta and was also in a PBS broadcast of Opera Louisiane featuring Met Opera artists Susan Graham, Paul Groves, Lucas Mechem and Lisette Oropesa. In addition to her professional achievements, Dr. Bostic-Brown will make her debut at Carnegie Hall in the spring of 2012. Dr. Bostic-Brown received her Bachelor of Music degree from Virginia Commonwealth University and her Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees from LSU. Dr. Terrance Brown, who performs as an American Baritone, is currently a faculty member at UNA. He has traveled the United States and through Europe as a concert artist, recitalist and operatic artist and performed in works such as Romeo et Juliette, Little Women and La Traviata. Dr. Brown also appeared in the 2009 PBS broadcast of Opera Louisiane and can currently be seen playing the title role of Verdi's Rigoletto with the Cheaspeake Chamber Opera; he is also performing with the Tuscaloosa Symphony, where he will debut a new work composed by Joseph Landers commemorating the losses resulting from the April 27, 2011 tornadoes. Dr. Brown received his Bachelor of Music degree from Samford University and his Master of Music and Doctor of Music degrees from LSU. The Guest Artist Series is being held on Tuesday, November 15 at 5:30 in the recital hall of the music building and is free to the public.
