In 2017, Project Say Something partnered with the University of North Alabama's Public History program and the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library to collect items related to local African American history. This effort was accomplished with funding from the Muscle Shoals National Heritage Area, and it led to the creation of a permanent database:http://shoalsblackhistory.omeka.net/
Another collection event will take place onThursday, November 8that 3:30in the local history room (2ndfloor) of theFlorence-Lauderdale Public Library. Please bring your photographs, letters, artifacts, and other items related to African American history in the Shoals area. Students in the Intro to Public History (HI 320) class will scan these items and upload them to the database.
